We think it’s totally sweet to have a signature scent for your big day! We’ve had a few brides do this (and photographers smartly capture) the decision to have a special perfume for their wedding day. By doing so you create a “scent memory” for both you and your groom for the rest of your lives. For years, and years you’ll be reminded of your nuptials every time you wear it. We suggest waiting until your wedding day to wear the scent, and then wearing it during your honeymoon to reprise your “I Do’s.” After that, tuck it away for a few months and bring it out for special occasions like your anniversary or your loved one’s birthday – it will make it all the more special.
Our friends at Brides Magazine shared some tips on how to pick the best perfume for your wedding, which you can read here. Here’s to smelling sweet and having a sweet love story to go with it, for many years to come.
Today’s Feature Friday turns to video! A vendor that is sometimes overlooked, but we believe is essential to truly capturing and savoring your special day. The guys at Artisan Production, including owner, Aaron Novak are incredible. Aaron has a real gift for capturing the essence of the couple and translating that into film. And I swear, he and his second shooter, Matt are barely noticeable throughout the day, yet time after time prove that they truly capture every memorable moment! Then those tender and timeless moments are woven into a story that can be experienced again and again. On top of his artistry, Aaron and his assistant’s kind personalities make them friends outside of wedding days! Below are some samples of Artisan Production’s work. We suggest you grab some popcorn, and maybe a tissue.

Aren’t their films beautiful? Well we didn’t want to stop there. We wanted you to learn a little bit more about Aaron. So we pestered his inbox with some questions:
Q: What’s your Starbucks order?
A: A cappuccino
Q: Meal you could eat over and over?
A: The meal I can eat over and over is Sushi. When I take my four yeardaughter on date nights, she also chooses sushi every time!
Q: What is unique about Artisan Production? How would you describe your style for
A: Artisan Production is unique with our attention to detail. Every bride and groom hasspecific taste and we like to showcase that through music and how wecapture the day. Our personal style is creating a timeless film that youwould want to watch over and over in the years to come, but also creatingsomething modern and personalized.
Q: Who is your ideal client?
A: Our ideal clients are couples who see the value in documenting theirday through video. When we show up ready to shoot and they are just beyondexcited that we are there ready to capture their special day.
Q: What do you love about videography?
A: I love shooting weddings because I love telling a story. Everyone’sstory is different and there is something special about capturing theemotions, voices, details, and movement. Having a job where I get tocapture one the most special days of someones life and giving a gift thatthey will treasure for lifetime is why I love doing what I do.
Q: Why shouldn’t people skimp on hiring a videographer/cinematographer?
A: You only have this day once and so much goes into planning a weddingwith countless details. Brides tell me all the time how fast the day goesand by having video, they were able go back and enjoy it. They didn’trealize how much they missed the day of the wedding. Photos can only givea snapshot of the day, whereas film captures the emotion, movement, andessence of the day.
Thank you Aaron for allowing us to feature you! It’s truly been a pleasure working alongside you and for us, hearing how happy our clients are that they have a beautiful film to look back on for years and years. To find out more about Artisan Production, you can visit Aaron here.
We could look at engagement rings and wedding bands all day long! From cushion cut, to pear shaped – we gush over them all! Today we wanted to share some of our favorite rings shots because it’s Wednesday and we think these will make for a great mid-week pick me up:) Married or not, these are sure to cause a swoon fest! And all of our single friends? “Pin” to your heart’s content or accidentally leave this post open on your man’s computer…
We love that more and more couples are choosing vintage, eclectic or even non-traditional rings in lieu of a carat diamond. But lets be honest, we’d (happily) take either or! Which one do you prefer, a timeless round diamond or a trendier statement ring?
To our surprise many bridal inspired gowns graced the red carpet at this Sunday’s 2014 Oscars! White and black seem to always be on trend, but Sunday night we saw an overwhelming amount of wedding inspired looks! SO many leading ladies wore shades of ivory, cream, and white…we never knew bridal could look so red carpet glam. Here are a few of our favorite looks from some of Hollywood’s biggest stars…
Maria Menounos in Johanna Johnson
Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Reem Acra
(Best Actress winner) Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive
Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace
Giuliana Ranic in Paolo Sebastian
And of course, we had to include a little something blue…
(Best Supporting Actress winner) Lupita Nyong’o in Prada
We think all of these gowns are wedding worthy! Who was your Best Dressed?
This week we had a little sweet tooth and wanted to reach out to one of our favorites in the world of party favors! B. toffee is absolutely to die for and their Founder, Betsy is as sweet as the confections she makes! The company which calls Newport Beach home, began in 2009 and strives to make each batch with only the finest, freshest and most natural ingredients.
Q: What’s your Starbucks order?
A: Mocha latte with no whip
Q: What is your favorite part about meeting an initial client? And what is your favorite part about working with them when it’s all said and done?
A: It is so fun hearing how a couple met, how they got engaged, and how they envision their special day or party! I’m a romantic at heart and love seeing people in love! It is always so rewarding witnessing how much they truly enjoy our toffee. Once they see the many packaging options, we love creating a gift they can share with their guests that is a custom design made especially for them.
Q: What do you love about working in the event and wedding industry?
A: I love sharing B. toffee with all the guests at their many celebrations – whether it is a bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette party rehearsal dinner or wedding. It is always so enjoyable to hear how the guests love our favors so much, that they wait until the guests at their table have gotten up to dance, and start ‘lifting’ their gifts from B. toffee off the table because they can’t get enough of our yummy treat!
Q: What makes you unique to other toffee/candy companies?
A: I’m not sure of another company that spends the attention to detail that we do when it comes to our gifts and favors! We want the packaging, the colors, the design and the whole toffee experience to be special and individual to each couple, as well as a delectable treat your guests will surely love and continue to talk about long after your wedding! The process of getting the final product – the back and forth – is the most rewarding! The relationships we build keep growing as many of our clients use us time and time again! For the next step…baby showers!
Q: What wedding trend do you look forward to seeing more of in 2014?
A: We are having so much fun seeing destination weddings become weekend long celebrations and getting to be a part of so many parts of the events/celebrations. From the welcome bags, to late night snacks, seating card boxes, or table favors – we love having clients and their wedding planners use our toffee in unique and creative ways!
Thank you Betsy and the B. toffee company for allowing us to share about your company on our blog! To find out more about Betsy’s sweet treats, you can visit her here. Or you can visit her Facebook page too (Warning: tons of mouthwatering photos) for even more updates! Many thanks to Marisa Holmes (top two) and B. toffee (third photo) for the featured photos.
Welcome bags are a great way to greet out of town guests, or those making the journey for a destination wedding. Above you’ll see some of our favorite totes throughout the past year or so. Not only is it a great way to feature some of the bride and groom’s favorite treats, including taffy or trail mix, but it also is a great opportunity to feature local businesses or publications pertinent to your wedding location such as Newport’s own, Rivera Magazine. We think having a welcome bag pre-placed in your guest’s hotel room, or on display during your welcome dinner is a wonderful first impression. Especially for those guests who are traveling outside of their own home, it’s important that the entire wedding experience, from touchdown at the airport to takeoff, is enjoyable & memorable! A welcome bag is a great way to say that a fun weekend of events is about to begin!
Every year, we do a handful of weddings at The Montage Beverly Hills and The Montage Laguna Beach. Both two of our favorite venues, for their breathtaking beauty, lush landscapes and views, and outstanding service. We are thrilled to see that The Montage is moving east and has welcomed The Inn at Palmetto Bluff into their family. Above you’ll see some of the gorgeous images from the coastal resort located in Bluffton, South Carolina. Only a ten minute drive from Hilton Head Island, The Inn at Palmetto Bluff, “has a a rich history of being the premier Lowcountry destination, with its unique beauty and highly acclaimed hospitality heritage of the South,” said Alan Fuerstman, Montage Hotels & Resorts Founder and CEO. After scrolling through their website, we have fallen head over heels in love with the South Carolina Lowcountry. It looks like the most picture-esque backdrop for a wedding weekend. Last year we traveled from Aspen to Punta Mita for our destination weddings, and as much as we’d travel back there in a heartbeat – it seems the South has been added to our wish list! A weekend of sweet tea, bike rides, banana pudding, boating, and sand, seems like the perfect combination for a memorable family affair and exchange of vows!
