Brides Live Wedding – Vote for the Cake

Something sweet to start your week off right…cake voting for the Brides Live Wedding is now live and you have TWO more days to cast your vote for your favorite design. Our favorite cake boss, Buddy Valastro of Carlo’s Bakery has teamed up with the Brides team to design a cake surely to WOW the guests at the winning couple’s reception! Often times a cake is a great focal point to your reception, and another area in which you can personalize your wedding to be about you and your groom! From Brides Magazine: “Buddy Valastro of TLC’s Cake Boss crafted four cake designs to serve as our reception centerpiece. Featuring bold details like honeycomb appliqués, graphic elements, romantic ruffles, and festive florals, each cake is sure to look as stunning as it is tasty.”

We only wish we could taste test these too:) Vote here now.

Feature Friday: Plum Pretty Sugar

Plum Pretty Sugar is a line of feminine loungewear that pairs cozy comfort with easy-living chic. Founder, Charlotte Hale founded Plum Pretty Sugar in 2009  and has quickly become a great friend to our studio. We love sharing Plum Pretty Sugar with our clients because we love Charlotte’s philosophy and what the brand represents; effortlessly fashionable items. They travel well from the beaches of California, where the company is based to across the pond on vacations and honeymoons. We think her robes, cosmetic bags, and clothing line make for perfect gifts that will wear again and again. We had the opportunity to speak to Charlotte this week and were delighted when she was able to share a few insights with us on her company.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for Plum Pretty Sugar?

A: There was a sort of progression to Plum Pretty Sugar. It existed in my heart for a long time before I brought it to life. I wanted to create something beautiful, feminine, and something that had a spirit and a sense of heart. Putting all those pieces together, came Plum Pretty Sugar. And it continues to evolve…which makes my heart sing.

Q: What is unique about your company?

A: I really tried to create a brand that brings forward a breezy happiness and a feminine lifestyle in a heart full way. And I think that comes from me. My love of beautiful things and my appreciation for the soul.

A: I love the idea that Plum Pretty Sugar gets packed and travels far and wide with our clients!

Q: What is your Starbucks order?

A: A venti nonfat vanilla latte. Sometimes twice a day. My local Starbucks sees me coming and often have it set and ready:)

Q: Any exciting plans for 2014 you can share?

A: We have many plans for the new year! We launched our collaboration with BHLDN in January, and this month we released our newest print; Mist Upon Golden Swirls (pictured below), as well as some new styles and silhouettes. There is much more to come…and a few surprises, too!

Plum Pretty Sugar stays connected with the wedding industry, who Charlotte credits for keeping the brand moving forward. Often times on their blog they feature real brides wearing their sleepwear and below happens to be a few of our gorgeous clients wearing Plum Pretty goodies! We love seeing the variety in color and prints, yet how all the robes look great together like a beautiful mosaic. To shop designs like these you can visit here.

Blue (Suede) Shoes

We think Elvis was onto something when he sang about having, “one for the money” in his blue suede shoes. Shoes are such a fun way to jazz up your ivory wedding gown and show off a bride’s personality. We love that our photographers always think to capture the fancy feet of our clients. Here are some of our favorite photos of brides that decided to take their ‘something blue’ down to their dancing shoes:)

Featured in Long Island Bride & Groom

We are thrilled to be featured in the April issue of Long Island Bride & Groom. Writer, Ivette Manners wrote such an informative article about transforming old traditions into modern customs, and we were so honored when the magazine reached out to us for our insights. In the article, we were able to highlight our thoughts on engagement parties and we also chatted about one of our favorite revamped traditions of throwing uncommon items (long gone are the days of rice) at the couple as they exit the party! Below is a sneak peek of one of Brooke’s quotes.

All in all, the key to successfully adding new traditions into your wedding, while maintaining many of the classic traditions is to personalize them to you and your significant other. To read even more examples, you can download and read a digital copy of the magazine here. Thank you once again to Long Island Bride & Groom magazine for featuring us in your article! We are beyond honored.

Feature Friday: Lighten Up Inc.

Today we turn our attention to lighting. If there is anything we share with our clients, it’s how much lighting makes a difference. You can truly transform a venue with the correct lighting design, and it can add so much value and affect to your overall aesthetic. This Friday, we are featuring one of our favorite lighting design companies, Lighten Up Inc. Nathan Megaw, the owner, was sweet enough to answer some of our questions and share some of his gorgeous work.

Q: What’s your Starbucks order:

A: Black coffee with 3 sugars

Q:  How did you get into lighting?

A: I’ve always had a passion for visual effects and the impact it has on people. Having worked as a technician, I was inspired to form my own company, so as to be able to express my own creative visions.

Q: What is unique about Lighten Up?

A: Positive professionalism

Q: How would you describe your style for lighting?

A: Our style of lighting is progressive. We always like to push the limits. Our lighting designers are given creative freedom to be innovative.

Q: Why should people invest in lighting?

A: Lighting is underrated when people talk about budgets/design. More than any decor element, it can transform a room.

Q: What is your favorite part about working the wedding/event industry?

A: Having recently celebrated my wedding (and providing lighting for it), I take great satisfaction in helping to enhance an already extraordinary moment.

Nathan, we thank you for your efforts and insights. Anytime you work with us, we know our clients will be blown away by your creativity. Your work truly enhances the vision we have and our client’s expect.

Instagram Worthy

This week as we were scrolling through our Instagram feeds we were reminded what an incredible tool social media has been for our business. Not only does it connect us to past and future clients, vendors and friends, but a ton of design inspiration and admiration for others in our industry results from it too. Today we wanted to share with you,  some of our favorites to follow on Instagram.

@josevilla – What can we say?! His images are stunning. We love anytime we have the opportunity to work alongside Jose, and when we aren’t, we just swoon over his amazing work.

@brides – Brides Magazine has a very unique Instagram feed. They post behind the scenes photos, informative article links, cutting edge trends, and amazing decor photos. It’s our favorite magazine at our finger tips!

@eliesaabworld – Brooke is in LOVE with all things Elie – bridal and non-bridal so for some serious fashion gushing, we love following Elie Saab on social media.

@instagramdesign – This page isn’t wedding related, but has a ton of great design elements. We tend to pull inspiration from her photos into our designs. She also makes us want to redecorate our houses on the daily!!

@whitelilacinc – Gorgeous event design and production! Honestly, White Lilac is above the rest. Sunny has such a colorful and opulent Instagram – a sheer delight to come across!
